about

Listen - soundcloud.com/corrupt-data001/cd005-reinartz-rave-coil-ep

Corrupt Data brings Mexican born, Berlin based Reinartz to the platform for their fifth release, Rave Coil. The title Rave Coil ties the knot between the five tracks, In, Between, Second Try, Still Up and Clipper. It refers to the moments you're absorbed into the cycle of rave, looping in early hours of the morning. You experience emotions, second wind, you're still awake. The rave wounds around you like a coil, it can trap you, but you wish to stay in.

On Between, glitchy sci-fi FX stabs and bass pulses fall away to weighted, and cavernous breaks. Choppy synthesised snares keep the listener guessing, atop an undulating, filtered bass line.

Second Try edges up the tempo, with a dark and brooding piece of old school-informed jungle. Familiar references, chords, and vocal samples are slightly twisted and contorted out of their usual context, giving a subtle sense of unease.

Still Up shares the same moody sentiment as the rest of the EP, but with the clipped, and plucky sound of electro. Dry kicks palpitate whilst short breaks fire and pan. An unconventionally placed, sub-heavy Rees bass brings the track back into line with the rest of the EP.

In the final track Clipper, rubbery kicks bounce throughout the first section, whilst illegible, metallic vocal samples scuttle on top. Euphoric pad chords sharply switch the atmosphere, finishing this EP on a speculative, and affectionate note.
